as unpleasant as it sounds i think many in the police force and local authorities simply didn’t care about what was happening… the Jay report many years ago identified police indifference and also hostility and cover-up when the problem was investigated. I cannot find which report it was now but another investigation claimed that police had ignored allegations about child sex trafficking because they believed the girls involved were trouble makers and were consenting… effectively they could not be bothered.

i am a little wary of the “political correctness” theories… they seem conveniently designed to deflect blame from the police forces involved by claiming that they were being politically pressured… yet the police forces involved have a long history of corruption and incompetence

Police and government as bad as each other, none addressed allegations of sexual offences within their spheres.
Neither could be bothered, one took their lead from the other.

The young girls have been let down by both Labour and Conservative Governments. Several Home Secretary’s and Chief Constables have been negligent.
I do not believe that they were all frightened of acting against mainly Pakistani men. Sadly the girls were treated as trash by the authorities as well as the perverts. So no one really cared.
