Jeezus! I don’t know which I’m more mad at, these morons doing what they did or that the painting isn’t better protected anyway, begins a Perspex screen or similar in light of recent similar events?

Either way, it’s time for some proper jail sentences and/or harsher financial punishments.

the gallery didn't actually want impressionist and post-impressionist paintings. When the Sunday Times tried to get readers to buy it a Monet sometime round 1900, the Gallery told them not to bother, it didn't like them. But eventually Samuel Courtauld provided a fund to get them some modern French paintings, since by now they had almost none at all and were way behind the rest of the world. And that's how they got the Sunflowers, and Van Gogh's chair.

The painting hasn't been damaged - it's covered by glass- a tiny bit of damage to the frame which can easily be cleaned.
What these morons want is publicity, which they are getting in spades courtesy of msm, best would be to not oblige them & then this would soon stop.

I agree, it is time to stop pussyfooting around with them and really punish them. Another point is that these protesters have got to get jobs and things and it is not a good look to have these arrests and prosecutions on their records.
