I've heard discussion along those lines on a couple of political podcasts I subscribe to.
The problem with Boris is that whilst he's still popular amongst activists and Conservative Party members, he's not well-regarded in the parliamentary party.
If it's a problem that affects all of us, the 'all if us' who wanted rid of Boris - and they made plenty of noise about it - should have thought about that before they jumped in with both feet. Clever!
From what I've heard (James O'Brien, The News Agents, Andrew Marr) the problem the Tories have is that it's become so factionlised that there's no-one the party can unite behind.
Rishi and Penny have been mentioned, but who would be PM?
And then there's Ben Wallace.
I suppose Boris could happen. If anything the past month has taught us that ANYTHING can happen in British politics.
To be honest I think Truss should call a General election. The limp back stabbing Tory MP's need to be taught a lesson by loosing their seats. Only that way can the Party purge the liberal elite and get back some proper Conservatives to rebuild properly in a few years time.
