Nhs To Serve Venison In Hospitals
82 Answers
Deer are at their highest numbers in 1000 years, and will be culled...so patients in some hospitals will benefit. Surely a good thing...but there are some who believe lentils and beans would be better. Apparently it's a very popular choice in East Lancashire where it's been trialed so far.

Unfortunately we are too late for that, too many species that are not indigenous to the UK are here so we will always need to help unless you want many indigenous species to disappear.
In addition, unless you are advocating living in a cave and returning to being hunter gatherers we will always need some sort of agriculture.

Shirley, I too understand what you’re saying and no one hates what we're doing to our oceans more than me - I scuba dive and I see it first hand - but allowing nature to do what it will just isn't realistic and sometimes we have to make compromises. If we don't everything else suffers. Allow deer to destroy the woodland, and what happens to the squirrels and the birds and all the other creatures for whom the countryside is home? Do we condemn them to starvation and death in favour of deer? Going by your philosophy, should you be eating animals that are bred and killed especially for your dinner table? Not really - but you do. Do you see what I mean?
Ymf you are right. We are too late. But mankind has not used their more developed intelligence wisely and has been instrumental in wiping out all we are supposedly trying to save. We are not superior beings, just because we have a greater brain power. That We now have a totally messed up world. Nature will win in the end and that will be the end of us. I have more compassion for animals than I have for humans. I don't mind admitting it. I will put my own family first and that includes my animals.
ymb - YES we are !
pasta - plenty of food for us to eat in hospital or otherwise (although I wouldn't eat venison). I don't agree with culling them because there are too many of them, which I thought I made obvious, actually. I'm not going to repeat myself, my posts stand and I won't be changing my mind over anything I have said. Animal life is treated way too badly by the supposedly 'superior' human race !
