Full Russian retreat from N Kherson looks like it’s on.

Bridges blown, flags gone, and Kiril Stremousov, their deputy puppet leader, killed this morning in a “car accident”
Details unclear

Were they waiting for the midterms? ;-)

Note how Putin was nowhere to be seen in the tv. As ever distancing himself from defeat.
Hopefully convincing no one
I am rather worried actually. A withdrawal like this could be due to several causes. It is alien to Putin's mindset (so far as I can read it, which is probably very fallible) to show loss of 'face' in any way. Could it be a precursor to an all-out bombing campaign? To flatten and exterminate a stubborn opposer? Just a postulation - hope I'm wrong.

They’ve already withdrawn from Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv.
Today Shihurivka, the last significant occupied town in Mikolaiv oblast, was abandoned by them too.
Thus really is what it seems but the Russians would like to dress up as something else: another humiliating military defeat.

“Snihurivka”, before anyone corrects me ;-)
The only major city they captured, and now they are running away.
Humiliated and beaten.
Hopefully when this is absorbed in Moscow, then Putin will be destined for a fluke bizarre accident very soon.
This is all good, but Putin must go before it can actually end. Preferably after battling a short novichok related illness.

Not wanting to start another Ukraine topic, but it appears that President Biden earlier in a briefing confimed that the US has indeed, as many suspected, supplied Ukraine with long range ATACMS missiles with a range of up to 160 miles (but not the really long 600 mile ones)
Which seems to bolster the idea that it was such a missile that hit the Kerch bridge.

And btw, relating to the original topic, the 28th Mechanised Brigade of the AFU is now closing in on Kherson city. A string of towns and villages to the north and west having/are being gradually been liberated
Question Author
Mass evacuation of Russian infantry now in progress in boats all along the Dnipro

Russians are GTFO :-)

It’s a night of horrendous slaughter of Russians
Question Author
It looks like the Russians have now blown the main bridge south/east out of Kherson city. The one Ukraine was hitting for months and which had become unusable to heavy (probably any) vehicles.
It didn't look like they were even using it for pedestrians anyway.
It's thought there are still thousands of russian troops trapped to the north and west.

They are digging trenches in Crimea...

And the Ukrainian flag again flies in Kherson city!
So soon.
Put there by partisans or special forces perhaps rather than the regular army. But put there.
Locals estimate that 2-4 thousand Rosgvardiya and motorised riflemen remain in the city - maybe 4-5 thousand guards and paratroopers in Berislav, a town to the north east.
What’s interesting is they say Russians have abandoned many of the artillery posts that were set up across the river as part of the so-called new defensive line, and are heading east to occupied Melitopol or south to Crimea
Question Author
Ukrainian forces now in Kherson city
Question Author

Sorry!
Putin is still hiding away like a pathetic little squirt of course.
Question Author
Kherson city officially liberated.
Ukrainian forces now in the centre and have advanced down to the river.
Advance slowed only by the crowds of locals.
The other day I said: "Don't expect to see Ukrainian tanks parading through the streets any time soon."
What do I know.
I will now shut up :-)
