so as i said at the beginning many work but get benefits. Perhaps they are in low paid jobs but work part time. so need a little bit extra to make ends meet.

i have already pointed that out. many may be on low wages, but people like those train drivers i mentioned are on good money.

push comes to shove one can always do with more money. Low paid workers are often those who work in hospitality as i said. Pay them more fine, then see them being let go because the business can't afford the increase to wages also the massive increases in business rates, etc

Blair's introduction of the minimum wage, caused a seismic shift in the pay structures of companies across the UK.

It was Blair's brainchild. Commendable and good intentioned. However can I be forgiven for thinking, from it spawned 'zero hour' contracts?

Emmie, Yes, of course the sick and the elderly and those in need must be cared for, but the point is there is something very wrong indeed with a system that allows people to CHOOSE not to work simply because they don't want to - your relative's ex-husband for example.

I agree to a degree Naomi, but I also think too many of the CINO's also believe they are doing right by not tackling it. The liberals need removing from the Party. At present I am a man without a Party-again.

with Rishi as a former chancellor and now PM and Jeremy Hunt as the new Chancellor may pull the rabbit out of the hat on the 17th. we should stay by and wait, what could be a new direction, at least that's what i hope for.

There is nothing wrong about any individual choosing not to work. Surely that is their perogative.

What is wrong is a system that rewards those (able bodied) that choose not to work, and allowed to make a career out of it.

Understandably there are some able bodied individuals who do become unemployable. It might be the resentment of many that public taxes are supporting these people. However we must also be seen to be a caring nation too.
