Mr Littejohn is a very experienced columnist, and like all successful columnists, he remembers lesson number one - know your audience.

This enables him to provide yards of material they want to hear, with just enough provocation to get the tea cups rattling over the breakfast tables of Middle England.

He does it well, but it's not hard to do.

Neither is it insightful properly researched serious journalism.

He is'right' because he mirrors what his readership think.
