// There wouldn't be WW3 anyway. //

I just wish I could share your confidence.

I mean for starters there’d be no Article 5 (which is no “Dr Strangelove” scenario anyway) in this instance. There’s no formal Article 4 either actually.
I remember the first Gulf War, in which allied missiles were touted as so accurate you could programme them to hit the men's room or the ladies' room.

It turned out they were't even accurate enough to hit the right army. About 20% of the Brits who died were killed by Americans.
foo !
Beeb screamer was screaming last night
coulda been a member of AB! - ter daah

trouble wivva Ukrainian missile is that it says 'made in Russia' on it ( because they are)

as another calmer Beebster said - we must remember it was part of a barrage of 100 missiles sent to freeze the Ukrainians
//There’s no formal Article 4 either actually. //

There was an 'expert' on television yesterday explaining to viewers what Article 4 is.

Someone who tracks these things says the furthest a Kh-101 has landed from its target far is just 150 metres.
in which allied missiles were touted as so accurate you could programme them to hit the men's room

a lot of the friendly fire was NOT missiles going to where they werent programmed for
but wrong co ordinates

not that the Tommies were affected ( same missile same death)

happened in the 2WW - creeping barrage crept forward but not always
sozza jokes in the POW camps, the Italian - vormarsch - after ten days went backwards....musta been the Italian invasion of Egypt
article 4 - as so often on AB and the Beeb
someone saying a thing exists er doesnt mean it does.

Question Author
Poland has apparently now requested Article 4

“In Article 4 of NATO’s founding treaty, members can bring any issue of concern, especially related to the security of a member country, to the table for discussion within the North Atlantic Council.”
//There’s no formal Article 4 either actually.//

Is this to deny the emergency meeting which took place during the G20 summit talks?
//lot of the friendly fire was NOT missiles going to where they werent programmed for
but wrong co ordinates//

I guess this goes to show 'intelligence' may not win wars but it can certainly save lives.
Harping back to the weaponry of 80 years ago means nothing in today's world of warfare. Just more hot air.
Not the weaponry that's the issue but the operators thereof it seems.
Indeed. Unlike the weaponry of 80 years ago, the way in which weapons operate in today's world leaves little room for error.

Kyiv lat and long: 50.45 & 30.52
Lviv lat and long: 49.83 & 24.03
Przewodow lat and long: 50.47 & 23.93

Notice anything? ;-)
//AuthorKyiv lat and long: 50.45 & 30.52
Lviv lat and long: 49.83 & 24.03
Przewodow lat and long: 50.47 & 23.93?//

Arrhhh yes. Just a few minutes out in the coordinates.

Kyiv lat and Lviv long very close to Przewodow lat and long. t

Human error probable!
Don't these things set co-ordinates automatically? A bit like plumbing information into a satnav? Tell it where to go and it goes? How can that be human error?
// plumbing information into a satnav? //

Unfortunately this has not prevented some motorists turning left on level crossings. Then travelling tens of yards up the railway track.
That can't happen with a missile though. Once the 'car' is in gear, it's off to its destination. No human interaction necessary.
Question Author
I'm not actually suggesting it's human error.
Although one should not dismiss the possibility.

It's more likely it was targeting something nearby.
Or that the air defence missile was tracking something targeted nearby if that is what it was.
