However that isn't the point.......Qatar IS hosting the World Cup and when the foorball starts and particularly if England do well, then I will not give a fig for Gay Rights, alcohol usage or treatment of immigrant workers.

If the reports that were coming out a fortnight ago are true then I would say definitely Anti. ---Foreign workers made to vacate their apartment blocks and sent back home, schools on reduced hours and a lot of the government workforce were told to work from home.

Italy hosted the 1934 World Cup with Mussolini in power, Argentina hosted in 1978 while ruled by a military junta and the 2018. World Cup was held in benign and not at all sinister Russia.
Unless every World Cup is held in Finland or New Zealand there is bound to be something dodgy about the host nation

I’m not a football fan and won’t be watching until (if!) England get to the knockout stage. I might not even then.

It was a ridiculous decision to hold it in Qatar, and the poor workers who died while building the massive white elephants have been basically forgotten.
