Missing Clubbers Found In Crashed Car

A group of five people, two men and three women, who failed to show up after a night out and were reported missing on Saturday have been found in a crashed car. Three are dead and two have serious injuries. Family members made repeated pleas on social media over the weekend and the police, who said officers are trying to piece together what happened, posted an appeal shortly before the car was found by family members on Monday. The families are now saying that the police didn't do enough but bearing in mind that these were all adults, is that fair?

I assumed the phones were smashed in the accident. I haven’t seen anyone say they were calling the numbers and getting no answer.

Yeah, maybe. It just seems odd that all five phones were smashed, but two people (at least) survived the crash.

I doubt 5 phones were smashed. They are usually in pockets or bags which would have protected them, and are made of stronger material than flesh.
It is more likely that they ran out of battery after a full days use. Assuming the were charged in the morning, they would be low by the early hours of the next day when we think the crash occurred. And definitely drained in the 46 hours until they were found.

5 people reported missing is wrong,only the girls were reported missing,once again people are looking for someone to blame,why not wait and see if the driver had been drinking, after all they had been in a nightclub,then see if it changes peoples opinion of what really happend.

I doubt the police would be interested unless attempts to 'phone them had been made with no responses.

The Police cannot just go and track someone's phone, they need to seek approval/permission before going to the phone companies. And of course it takes time. On top of that it is doubtful anyone would grant that within the first 24 hours. Someone is reported missing every 90 seconds in the UK should they apply for each of those?

This is of course to prevent them tracking people for no reason and is right.

However, I think that 6 travellers in the car was 1 too many and illegal.

Yep, if they had been clearly visible, e.g. at the side of the road, then all emergency services would have come all guns blazing to come and save them in minutes. But because by their misfortune they (well, only the driver) left the road and became not so visible, they're handled completely differently ... with horrific results, 46 hours later.

It is not embarrassing for the police. When did they know the registration number? As I understand it the men weren't reported missing and the women's families didn't know the men
