Lineker To Step Back From Presenting Match Of The Day
...until an agreement is reached on his social media use, the BBC has said.
Bet he is feeling less cocky now. No doubt he still gets paid. Time will tell if his principles or ego win the day.

// This is just an immeasurably cruel policy directed at the most vulnerable people in language that is not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the '30s. //
Last November fellow Conservative MP Robert Jenrick warned Braverman about the language she was using.
// Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick has said politicians must be careful with language after the home secretary claimed southern England was facing an "invasion" of illegal migrants.
Mr Jenrick told BBC Radio 4's Today: "It's not a phrase I've used." //

Gromit please tell us the correct term to use to describe over 45,000 people detected arriving on the South Coast via boat in 2022? From gov.uk:
"There were 45,755 people detected arriving by small boats in 2022. 51% of those people arrived in the 3 months of August, September and October. The month of August 2022 saw the highest number of small boat arrivals of any month since data has been collected (8,631). The total in 2022 was 60% higher than in 2021 (28,526; see Figure 2)."

//Just because the public take up the idea and believe it is an invasion, it isn’t one, and it is shameful of a politician to use that language.
Have you been down to the Kent coast lately, Gromit? If not, let me describe it for you. Every day (weather permitting) large numbers of small boats set off from the French coast bound for Kent. Some of them are "intercepted" part way across the Channel. By intercepted, I mean that they are met by either Border Force or RNLI vessels, the occupants taken aboard and the boat towed behind usually into Dover but sometimes to Ramsgate or Deal. Others are not intercepted and they make the entire crossing to land wherever they end up, usually between Dungeness and Dover, but sometimes further west towards Rye or Hastings. The occupants then disembark and make their way up the beach to disappear into the ether. Whatever it is, all these people (45k last year and forecast to be twice that this year) have to be housed, fed and watered. Many need medical treatment and ongoing care. None of these people have been invited here, none have leave to arrive and stay, all have come from a safe country where they are in no danger. Take a pop down there one day and form your own opinion whether it is an invasion or not. I particularly recommend the stretch of coast between Dungeness and Hythe (roughly the area served by the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway). The coast is fairly agreeable there for landing in a small craft and for the passengers to make their way up to the beach quite easily. Provided the weather is calm you are unlikely to be disappointed.

Gromit, if I may say so, your world has some weird ideas. Do you choose to use a particular definition of a word to suit your purposes? We do suffer an "invasion" by these immigrants as they arrive in not inconsiderable numbers, mainly on the South Coast via small boats. I think that is undeniable. None here uses "invasion" to describe armed forces taking control or a nation entering our country to cause harm.
Whether or not the immigrants are "vulnerable" must be determined by the Authorities. Undoubtedly a percentage will have made themselves vulnerable. Just how big that percentage is will also be determined after investigations are complete.
