...until an agreement is reached on his social media use, the BBC has said.

Bet he is feeling less cocky now. No doubt he still gets paid. Time will tell if his principles or ego win the day.

Funny how Jeremy Clarkson, who is paid to voice his opinion, was widely hated for the trivial things he said about Markle, but Lineker is being widely supported (there's a member on this thread defending GL, but who wanted Clarkson sacked from everything).
Is it normal practice for the police and a headmaster to participate in the decision-making process of a Sharia court?
______________

Is it normal practice for a naughty schoolboy to have his case heard in a mosque in front of Muslim councillors and Muslim community leaders as the prosecution?

I suppose the difference is that Clarkson tended to make snide, insulting comments, while Lineker's were more thought through, and got a backlash from the Tory government and their friends in the media.
More thought through?

Seriously?
// more thought through//

:o/
Deskdiary I hoped Clarkson was sacked and am defending GL, your point?
They are not even vaguely similar!
Read and learn.

//Responding to Lineker on Twitter, [holocaust survivor] Agnes Grunwald-Spier, who has also been a member of the Board of Deputies of British Jews for 15 years, said: “What is beyond awful is your comment about the Nazis. I suggest you read my book ‘Who Betrayed the Jews?’ and find out what the Nazis really did.

“When you read all 600+ pages you may be entitled to comment on the Nazis. I was a baby in the Budapest Ghetto – shame on you.” //

Fundamentally this is a debate about free speech and voicing an opinion, so in this respect you are incorrect in describing the comparison between GL and JC as not being even vaguely similar. The comparison is correct.
He did not call anyone a Nazi!!
He likened the language used as that used in 1930s Germany!
What is so difficult to understand?

The language used bore no resemblance to 1930s Germany. None whatsoever. That shouldn't be difficult to understand - but it seems it is. The man is a disgrace.
What is so difficult to understand?
the context - of Germany in the thirties

the context doesnt EXCLUDE them, so we are left with 1) the context is irrrelevant ( not usually a part of communication) OR 2. the context includes them

what is so difficult in seeing that what people say, may have a context?

Odd that so many sports presenters are supporting him, but in my experience few members of the public do.
I wonder if they are afraid to break ranks for fear of the spotlight.
