the american right have not turned into snowflakes they have turned into fascists… the idea of “degenerate art” is central to fascist censorship and some schools there recently banned Art Spiegelman’s ‘Maus’ ostensibly for nudity but in practise it’s quite obvious they don’t want students reading about genocide

I'd argue that pornography is media which has be created to induce a specific reaction in viewers.
For instance - 'furries' get turned by seeing others dressed up in brightly-coloured cuddly outfits but that doesn't mean that Barney the Dinosaur is necessarily dodgy.

this case is a good example of why we should be very cautious about parents wanting to control what children are taught in school
sozza - we have denominational education ( which they dont in the Land of the Free - has to be secular) under the Butler Act 1944 on the matters of faith and teaching in schools.
Prots get lessons on the NT
Romans - the holy virgin, incense, smells and bells
Politics ( lessons in) were disapproved in schools in the sixties as all the left school master wd tell their pupils to vote Labour

In the South bits more to do with religious views than political ones. I wonder if Muslim schools and parents would have an issue for instance? Or would that be ok in all your eyes?
For the record, no I dont view it as anything but art. But then I'm an atheist and a far right knuckle dragging somethingphobe.

yes of course they do for chrissakes
where have you been for the last fifty years.
Resistance to inspection and beating the kids if they dont learn the Quran ( quick enough -someone who has is called a hafez)
Education in the land of the Free is non-denominational
Under U.S. law, religious education is forbidden in public schools, except from a neutral, academic perspective. However, in a minority of communities, released time is granted once a week to make religious education more convenient without violating the separation of church and state.
