I'm not 'defending' him.

I have offered my view on what has happened based on the evidence the thread has provided.

I think he acted inappropriately because he is unaware that his childish humour has darker interpretations in the wider world.

That has been explained to him, and he has apologised for any upset he inadvertently caused.
