If you could catch the culprits and put them up against a wall, and ask them "why?", you would not get an understandable answer. My view (for what it's worth) is that this is yet another symptom of the collapse of society. Too many people do not know how to behave, nor respect the views of others. There is too much of the "me, me, me" attitude going around, and it can only get worse.

Ain't that the truth. Croydon is no longer the borough of history.
'Peace in our time', and Amy Johnson etc etc. It has become a cess pit of crime.
The poor father of the church cannot have served there very long, or ,he is extremely naive. History or religion does not matter a jot to the majority of residents.
This borough is rife with drug dealing and shootings. Make that of you will.
A police custody sergeant at Croydon Police Station was fatally shot by a prisoner inside the nick only about 18months ago. OK, there were serious errors by the arresting officers due to lack of proper training on search procedures but if a copper isn't safe from perps with firearms inside a police station then what chance is there of maintaining law and order in this London Borough for other law abiding citizens. Perhaps carpet bombing this vile hole would be a viable alternative.
Several years ago my elder son was a door manager. We know them as 'Bouncers'. He was moved to this area by his security company to work the doors at Lloyds and other nightclubs. Within a week he purchased, at his own great expense. Ballistic body armour because of the 'Drive-By' shootings. Thankfully he has moved on and is still with us. Christianity does not reign supreme in that cess pit. Should anyone ask. I live 2 miles from Croydon and have policed it in the past.

Drugs, drugs, and more drugs. Thuggish behaviour allowed to proliferate. No family cohesion, violence on TV and films the norm.
Christianity all but abandoned. Selfish and greedy, I want it now, I can’t be bothered brigade. Bred from the oafs and slappers, the uneducated and the unemployable. A sad inditement of government and social indifference.
