My first thought was 'mindless vandalism' but it's something more sinister, isn't it? Whoever did it, came prepared with the 5kg of salt. A local grocer, maybe?

I would think that someone purchasing such a huge amount of salt in a shop would look suspicious and be remembered.

That's not a huge amount. Two or three bags of dishwasher salt that can be bought in any supermarket - that's all.

Googling '5kg bag of salt' shows how many ways to buy it and, a sale's a sale.

It could be bought over a few days from different outlets by different people but in the end I think we may be over-thinking this.

Not sure how they estimated the 5kg of salt but Asda does a 3kg bag for £2.30 and I doubt buying a couple of bags would be thought odd.

They could have been self-scanned anyway.

Something odd about this.

On the subject of 5Kg of salt I doubt it was 5Kg of saxa saltr has many other uses particularly for water softeners.(incl dishwashers)
