I don't think the Democrats have really come up with a better candidate - I recall that Clinton and Bush Jnr were both out barnstorming very shortly after the previous election, and made their names forcibly enough to win election. But Biden's been in office two years and nobody else has made an impact.
With Trump I think there are probably better alternatives (eg de Santis) even on the extreme right who might get the incel vote.
It will be interesting to see if, as I sincerely hope happens, Trump is out of the game by the election, how many would vote for the Republican because he (she?)’s younger.
Biden only has to live long enough to get the Democratic nomination, but the other side is far from certain
There is a lack of youngish quality candidates at the moment. I read that there are some younger people around the presidential scene but they have not got the money and influence to mount a proper campaign.
As I have stated on other threads I find it very sad that the USA cannot find a couple of good, dynamic younger candidates. For my money I wold like to see DeSantis not Trump on the republican ticket but it would be nice to see a good alternative on the Democrat side.
This is for leader of the free world, whatever happens affects us all.
A gerontocracy isn't necessarily a bad thing. There are lots of elderly politicians in China, for example. I'm not saying they're good politicians, just old.
