How does that work then? There us a national payscale for nurse and midwives in bands. How will it work when some workers in, say, band 5 accept but others in the same band don't?

i did mean that - both nurses and midwives work in the national bands. if midwives have agreed the payrise which will apply to (say) band 5, but the nurses who are in band 5 havent, how does that work?

Well if they are in different support schemes for those who need a crutch in life (unions) then I imagine that those that don't accept it can still strike.

The pay rise won't happen until everyone has agreed. If the nurses and other succeed in getting a better offer later on then midwives would receive that also yes.

And there is one of the reasons why the NHS is in a mess. Two groups of people doing fundamentally different jobs, represented by different unions, but on a common (and seemingly inextricably linked) payscale.
