I've not seen a lot of the news on tv to-day and I had look online but seen nothing on the BBC or Sky websites so who's getting you up to high-doh?
Coming soon the wettest day eva recorded in an Amazonian Waterfall, the driest day eva and eva in a Mexican Tortilla oven, the windiest day eva in a wind tunnel on the shores of Lake Windermere...etc. etc.

So it can be blamed on climate change.
It's called weather.

The jet stream is unusually far to the south (nothing to do with climate change - its position alters incessantly). This is keeping the hot African air from spreading north and is trapping it over Spain and Portugal. It's also why it's unusually cold and wet here.
Of course it's climate change.
Still weather.
And your reasoning for that is......?
Oh come on NJ. Yet another weather event way out of line with historical patterns.
How anyone can deny climate change is beyond me.
It's your own fault TTT you should have stayed in the EU . Just think about it .. You could have been sunbathing in Peckham right now me old china.
Should have stayed in the "Great European Union" Ok.
How far do these historical patterns go back?

Hi Gully, good to have your intellectual magnificence on my thread as always.
You can go way back and I doubt you will find a time when the coral reefs all over the world started dying. But I'm sure many will say its got nothing to do with climate change. :•)
Anything to do with postmen delivering leaflets?
//Oh come on NJ. Yet another weather event way out of line with historical patterns.//

There always have been (and always will be) weather events out of line with historical patterns. At the moment the UK’s weather is out of line. It is (IIRC) around 40 years since the temperature did not reach 20 degrees before the end of April, but looking at the latest forecast, it seems unlikely that will be achieved at least for the next two weeks.

//How anyone can deny climate change is beyond me.//

I’m not denying the climate is changing. Once again, it always has and always will. But a short term spell of unusual weather (as the UK had last summer) is not a symptom of that.

The principle cause of coral bleaching and death is a rise in sea temperatures and one of the main causes of that are the El Niño episodes that have been occurring (along with changes in the climate) since prehistoric times. There have been episodes of coral bleaching recorded throughout the 20th century.

"How anyone can deny climate change is beyond me." - err is there anyone denying climate change? It's continually changing for 4.5 billion years. No one disputes that, no one, surely!
In answer to the OP, the British people love talking about the weather, no matter where it is or what it is. I don't know why it seems to fascinate people like it does. It was only a few weeks ago that we had reports of blizzards in Madrid, didn't we? I think the weather reports should be banned from TV and only be available online.
Malaga - Scorchio!
Barcelona - Scorchio!
Madrid - Scorchio!
Valencia - Scorchio!
Gibralta - Heavy Rain!
Because it's newsworthy. Same as when they report record snowfall in New York, or a flood in Italy.

If you're only interested in what's happening locally weatherwise, switch the telly off and look out of the window.
They only report it to annoy narrow minded people TTT.

Who cares what happens in another country, even though you have started many threads concerning other countries politics.
But God forbid anyone starting a thread concerning your beloved country.
