Nigel Farage may be hounded out of the UK

It seems that any suspicion gives banks the right to close accounts, without explanation, to avoid risk, even when such suspicion/ risk seems ridiculously small and remote. That seems wrong. Obviously society shouldn't tip off the bad guys that they are under suspicion, but one wonders what society thinks closing the accounts of everyone around them...

Zacs-Master; OK, it wasn't 'EU generated', but it was EU adopted, & because the UK is an erstwhile member, that is the reason it still applies. So your observation;
//The simple fact is’ that if Farage hadn’t campaigned to take us out of the EU, he’d still have a legal right to one.//
is nonsense - which was my my point - & the UK, now no longer being tied to the EU could if it wishes, unilaterally opt out.

The FATF anti corruption initiatives were adopted worldwide (see above). The UK put them into legislation in 2017 when we had already voted to leave.
It is now clear that Farage has no idea what a ‘Politically exposed person’ is. He claims to have been designated it but almost certainly hasn’t because he is not important enough. He cannot have be identified as PEP, so that cannot be the reason his bank closed his account.

Zacs-Master //It is an unequivocal fact that if we were still an EU member, Farage would have legal protection to having a bank account. //
More nonsense from you. Why, as the UK and the EU are both signatories to the PEP arrangement, would he have more legal protection in the EU than he has in the UK ?
There is a myth that anyone can have a bank account in the EU, but for example in Germany, & probably all other member states;
"If you're bankrupt or have a record of fraud, you will not usually be allowed to open a bank account. Also, you may be refused permission to open a current account if you have a poor credit rating."
I confess I didn't even know what a PEP was until last week, did you, or anyone?
