I learned on one, had one as my first car and delivered loads of them from Ford's Dagenham plant to BT sites around the country:

They were cheap and reliable but never exactly wonderful in my opinion.

I sincerely hope you learnt to drive in one Buen, not on one.
Images of Mr Bean and his Mini spring to mind.

It's much more fun that way though, Steff ;-)

Now I know you need some sleep;-)
Fords were good cars, i had a Ford Anglia and never had any problems with it.
I had one but the dreaded rust did for it.
Yes, but it was lent to me while my car, an Escort, was in dry dock.
I learnt to drive in one, but never owned one. Like a lot of things, am sure it will make a comeback some day in a new form like the Beetle, Bug, Capri, Mustang or suchlike...
We still have one. We have leased two over the last five years and have decided to buy it at the end of the term. The garage keeps offering us other dearer cars in exchange for the same monthly fee. If they are stopping production Why?
Mine was my first brand new car.
I owned three Fiesta XR2s from new. Excellent cars. The middle one (white) was stolen.
never driven one, good successful car mind. My very first car was a Ford Anglebox, I loved it, reliable and only cost me £30.
I learnt to drive in a Ford Anglia.
I had one (not the model shown!) nearly 20 yrs ago and had it for about 6 yrs.
It suited me quite well as I'm only little, but it might have been too small for some.

I did indeed - a 1989 F reg Ford Fiesta S. I don’t know what the ‘S’ stood for, but it came with a small sporty steering wheel. I was 18 so could not afford an XR2 (wouldn’t have been able to afford the insurance either) and it was my first grown up purchase; I used it for 3 years at university…and got a lot of kudos for having a car, but what people didn’t see was that I was working all the hours Safeways could offer me just to keep up the payments to my Dad.

Loved that car.
I bought a brand new Puma in 1997. Everyone said it was based on the Fiesta (Zetec engine etc) but it didn't feel like a Fiesta. I loved that car. I had the 1.7 and it lasted me 14 years with ever breaking down. I still see the odd one about but thanks to Khan, they will fail the ULEZ.
*without*
No, I had a Ford Anglia soft top.
Good article by Boris Johnson I today’s Mail about Khan’s vanity project and its utter folly.

I know people will rubbish it because it’s BJ, but it’s well worth a read.

Thanks for all the posts. I seem to have brought back memories for many people here ;-)

I've had a few Fords over the years. They've generally been cheap to buy (secondhand), cheap to insure and cheap to buy replacement parts for. They've never seemed really 'special' though, in the way that, say, my Citroen BX (or even my lovely little Proton) did.
//No, I had a Ford Anglia soft top//

Ford did not make an Anglia Convertible, tilly. I believe a mob called Crayford Conversions may have done a small number (my mate had a Cortina Convertible done by them). Yours would have been a very, very rare animal.
