Apparently this mad woman has been sending ‘forceful e-mails’ to the government as to why she was denied a peerage (and demanding she be given a peerage). The Cabinet Secretary (Simon Case) has reported the issue to the parliamentary authorities, and also asked for advice about any potential breach of the law.

It won’t be long before the mad people start posting, defending her right to complain, threaten people who blocked her peerage and to demand a peerage.

Along with the voters of Mid-Bedfordshire, I’m still waiting for her to resign.

As I understand it, Ms Dorries was advised that she was to be in receipt of a peerage, but that honour has been rescinded without explanation.

On that basis, I think it reasonable that Ms Dorries seeks an explanation for the volte face, and the notion of 'forceful' as an adjective applied to e-mails, is a matter for interpretation.

Written communication is a potential minefield of unintended misinterpretation, as regular contributors to this site discover on a regular basis.

I for one am delighted to post and defend Ms Dorries' right to complain if she feels, and clearly she does, that she has been unfairly treated without the courtesy of an explanation.

Defence of the right to complain is a basic aspect of free speech, and 'madness' is not a prerequisite in offering it.

I would not consider it my place, or my normal approach, to threaten or demand anything without knowing the individuals and facts involved, but as for defence of her right to complain, I have no problem at all with that.

There's a committee whose job it is to vet peerage nominations. They didn't think hers was worthy along with a couple of other of Boris's obvious mates.

She at least deserves to be given a reason why, but beyond that she's basically got to accept it.

As regards the book etc, she just seems obsessed with the man and needs to move on.

HOLAC took her name off the list ( as it can do ) and sent it onto the Cabinet office, which it should do - where Rishi had promised to rubber stamp it
Boris wouldhave restored the good ( noble) lady's name and rubber stamped it
Rishi just rubber stamped the truncated list

The current complaint is apparently a demand, "oh well you can tack my name on Liz Truss' list!" - can as in 'as of right'
