A Childish Diplomatic Snub By The Eu
Just shows how are departure from the EC has hurt them. As we have left their Bloc they think they can ride rough shod over British Sovereign Territory. What a crass, childish snub. The Falkland Islanders wish to remain a UK territory so why don't the EU butt out and continue eating sour grapes.

Really. How about the Falkland Islanders views. Don't they count. Did the EU consult them?
//James Sunderland, a Tory MP who served in the Falklands, said: “This is outrageous. The UK has exercised de facto sovereignty over the Falkland Islands since 1833 and went to their defence in 1982.
“The good people of the Falklands have also overwhelmingly voted to remain British. The EU would be wise to respect British sovereignty, rather than waste its time with tokenism.”//

Besides, no nation has to adopt the place names that another uses. I'm amazed we change the names we use every time some nation opts to change what they call themselves, or some place within their borders.
However, that doesn't change the obvious reason why the EU has done it. We just need to rise above their level; which should be easy as we are already there.

Well done Mr Sunak. I doubt the EU will honour their correct choice of words for the Falkland Islands though.
I can't understand what Argentina has to do with the EU and why the input from them
I was under the impression that there was a Pan American Confederation or Bloc to champion their interest and concerns. That was why the USA were reluctant to show open support to the UK when we lawfully retrieved the Falklands from the Argies. They did slip us some very useful intelligence about the movements of their Air Force apparently.

//You people are just trying to whip up arguments for the sake of having a good rude row. You must have better things to care about!//
Just because you have surrendered yourself to the cheese eating surrender monkeys some of us do care about our sovereign dependencies. I hope we all care about the 255 serviceman and three civilian women who died to ensure that it remained the Falkland Islands and was not governed by a tin pot regime who had little regard for human rights. Heard of 'The Lost Ones' under Galtieri ?

It’s all going well in Argentina who have to bet the IMF for money every year.
Current inflation rate is 100% and interest rates are 97% :-)
I used to know people who lived in Argentina and they used to dispose of income as soon as they were paid by buying gold, diamonds and converting currency into US dollars.

Before rushing to condemn the EU perhaps one should read the declaration.
The declaration - agreed at the European Union and the Community of Latin American and the Caribbean states (Celac) earlier this week - read: "Regarding the question of sovereignty over the Islas Malvinas/Falkland Islands, the European Union took note of Celac's historical position based on the importance of dialogue and respect for international law in the peaceful solution of disputes."
Now most on here interpret this as the EU deliberately thumbing their nose at the UK. I see it rather more as the EU coming to an arrangement with a group of countries which includes Argentina and not deliberately snubbing that country. The fact that Argentina see it as a diplomatic triumph - they must be easily pleased. Nearly as easily pleased as we are at getting on to our high horses.
