Why do some people think they are untouchable and above and the Law?
It looks like Trump is about to have his comeuppance. Lets hope Putin and Johnson get theirs soon.

I have been following Trumps tribulations (mostly on CNN), apparently he has so far spent more than $40 million on lawyers in his defence.
In relation to the latest indictment, his lawyers have argued that since it has taken the authorities more than 3 years to bring charges against him, he should be allowed a similar time-frame to prepare his defence.
If my lawyers made such a statement, I would realise that I had spent $40 million on the most useless lawyers in the USA.

09:45 If there is one thing the US legal system is good at, it is delaying things to the extent that they decay and go away on their own. The lawyers are running the standard playbook, right at the top is delay delay delay, that serves 2 purposes, the delay itself and the chance that things change in the interim. Trump would have fired them if they didn't try and get it kicked down the road. There are class actions in the US running for over 10 years with plaintiffs dying before the case gets resolved saving millions of dollars. Not saying it's right but that is what is allowed to happen under the US legal system.
There are many people in this country that would have liked to have seen Tony Blair brought to account for his illegal war that saw many British service personnel killed or badly maimed.
Instead he flaunts himself about as the Great Saviour by giving advice to all and sundry.
If ever there was a person who believes he is untouchable and above the law it is him.

Gramps 11.49 Since the end of WW2. Britain has been involved in numerous conflicts and wars.Suez ,Korea, Kenya,Malaya ,Aden ,Cyprus etc. Which saw many British Service personnel killed or badly maimed......Nothing to do with Tony Blair of course. And then Britain had The Falkland War which was a gift from heaven for Thatcher to stay in power and she jumped on the band wagon and many service personnel were killed and Maimed ,just to keep her in power.Blood on her hands.. But of course in the eyes of the thatcher worshippers that was OK.

many tried - no cause of action in short ( imagine paragraph on paragraph of legal guff).
Remember Lord Peter Taylor ( LJ) dictum ( just a smidge of Latin) on the IRA bombers - it is not my fault ( thepolice lied to me) = I was lied to
Bliar was as well ( lied to)
ironically Trump is trying that as a defence 2023 - and it is unlikely it will succeed. That is, in trumps case when he said, "I need 6000 votes" the prosecution say they can show he didnt believe he had them or had been told he had them
god I think I prefer it when the mods DON'T understand what I write

Gulliver 12.19. I was never a fan of Thatcher but what she did with regards to the Falklands was to defend British Territory which had been invaded by a foreign power. Any Prime Minister worth their salt would/should do the same thing. What Blair did, and incidentally I had great hope that he would make the Labour Party strong again, what he did was to invade a foreign country in order to unseat their leader. An illegal war??
I think that the nature of some people, whose lives slowly evolve into a time of complete indulgence, and isolation from simple reality, is that, because any of their actions cease to have meaningful consequences, their detachment from reality increases, until reality, in the sense of the world inhabited by the rest of us, simply ceases to exist.
Of course, if you are a sociopath, and I firmly believe that Mr Trump is, then that detachment from reality goes even deeper than for someone with a balanced approach to living in the real world
