I don't know if they know each other but it may be circumstances similar to what a friend of ours experienced some time ago.

She reported being raped to the police.  After some months they told her that CPS were not proceeding due to lack of evidence (very common in rape cases as I'm sure you know).

A few years later the police contacted her because two other women, unknown to her and each other, had also reported the same man of rape.  Subsequently the man was charged and found guilty of three cases of rape, off to prison with him.

Maybe these women had complained separately to one person/agency or they could have and discovered they are all victims of the same man.

Equally, they could be a bunch of vindictive witches trying to settle some score or get attention.
