I don't know. Fear of consequences, maybe. Shame. Protecting their privacy, job prospects. They don't want their parents/family to know. Can't face the investigation and possible trial.
Reporting rape to the police is traumatic for many. Reporting a hugely wealthy and famous man like Brand must be daunting - money talks and buys very expensive lawyers.
roy, try mentioning the problem here.

Most issues seem to be getting sorted out.
Just as an FYI a mate of mine who used to work for a rape crisis centre told me that many women don't report rapes because
a) they fear it becoming their defining 'thing' (eg. yeah - she was that one who got raped,
b) the likelihood of a conviction is so vanishingly small - 1% as at 2022
c) the length of time a case takes to get to court (on average 817 days).
d) How will the accusation affect their relationships. With my family, with my kids? "Will I be seen as a victim".
When you're accusing someone famous, there's an added pressure. Will your anonymity be endangered?
Also, if you've been raped you have no idea whether you were the only one or whether there is evidence of a pattern of behaviour.
This may be why these allegedly assaults have gone unreported until now. By the way - if this were a witch hunt, wouldn't have have started a loooong time ago?
