she is spot on, but who is going to listen and make changes, seems politicans and lawmakers care nothing for the publics view, but only altruism or they are just scared.

The government is not allowed to have a policy to stop them coming in, the Liberal elite won't let them and try to thwart them at every turn. You think a Labour government will have more success? You must be dreaming, they won't want to stop them from fear of upsetting those on the left of the party who actually rule the roost.

But we still do not have a policy to stop them coming.

So what policies do you suggest are adopted (which are compatible with our supposed responsibilities under the 1951 Treaty which Ms Braverman – rightly – suggests is being abused)?

The £500Million is to build and run a detention centre in France.

Not entirely:

The money will finance a new detention center for migrants in France and the deployment of 500 French security and support agents “to enable the fastest detection of attempted crossings” by small boats, a joint statement from the two countries said.

// The [£500M] will go towards an extra 500 officers and a new detention centre in France, but this will not be fully operational until the end of 2026.

This new package appears to at least double the previoys amount, with the UK pledging £120m in 2023-24. //

Not sure this is value for money. Tens of thousands are still getting here.

So once again, what policy suggestions do you have? What do you think a Labour goverment would do differently to stem the flow?

A Labour government wouldn't stem the flow.  It would unload them from boats, rubber stamp a waiting pile of documents and say they'd solved the problem.  No more 'illegal' immigrants.

From your question fender anyone would think she isnt the home secretary, not in power, not able to influence policy. An mp who is in the BEST position to for something says what most people think and people think and then you say politicians and lawmakers  font listen. What is she if not that?

Dinghy's are unsafe.. cruel to allow them. We'll end up ferrying them across on a twice daily free service maybe 500 at a time, first come first served.   Then 'process' them once here...with a welcome pack, travel and accommodation vouchers, a social worker/immigration adviser.....problem solved

The Government and its supporters are defending a situation that is clearly failing. Their only utterances are, 'would be worse under Labour'. Conveniently ignoring the scale of the Conservative's failure.

They are talentless and bereft of ideas, so they throw hundreds of million £ at other Governments (France, Rwanda) hoping someone else can do what we elect them to do.

I liked this from Jon Sopel:

Multiculturalism has failed’ says Suella Braverman who is from Kenyan and Mauritian background and married to a Jew, serving as Home Secretary in a govt led by someone whose family came from India.
Wonder what multicultural success looks like.

She's a political chancer.//

Sopel is a smart ass, why do you like that nonsense?

Multiculturalism has failed miserably - go to the towns in the north of England & see how 'integrated' the different ethnic groups are .

Multiculturalism has failed, but Suella Braverman hasn't, she is one of the minority who worked at it, and good luck to her.

Gromit, I don't think anyone is ignoring the situation, and as for defending the government, from where I'm sitting they're stymied by the hand-wringers at every turn.  If a different government meet with the same problems they'll be in exactly the same boat - so to speak.   As for Labour, since an election is looming and we're told constantly that the Conservatives will be out, it's reasonable to consider what Labour might do.  Given Mr Starmers wayward mouth of late, the prospect isn't a happy one.

The worse thing Starmer/Labour could say and do would be that they would do the same thing as the Tories. Anything else will be an improvement.

Hopefully Labour will pledge to stop the £500Million to France and the £120Million + to Rwanda. Both a waste of money.

//Anything else will be an improvement.//

Don't bank on it.

I'm certainly not banking on us paying France and Rwanda to sort this out for us.

What's your solution?

Maybe start by reminding Suella that she's in charge and give her a wee push to get her started.

Not much point in her looking around for someone to blame when it's ultimately her responsibility.

Like most politicians though she's only warming a seat until it's  time to take up a position in the private sector where she can bring all of her vast experience gained in high office to bear on whatever important stuff she pretends to be doing.

What's your solution douglas?

Remind her that she's in charge.

She has the massive brain, I can't do the work for her.

OK.  You don't have one.  Next!

Help yourself to a day off, naomi.

How about you having a day off?
