The long-time SNP minister and Humza Yousaf's deputy,  Shona Robison, has been accused of "completely disrespectful" conduct after she failed to show up on time to the Royal opening of Aberdeen South Harbour on behalf of the Scottish Government and failed to thank the princess for attending. Ms Robison kept the crowd waiting for 40 minutes.

Just plain rude to create such embarrassment.  Scotland deserves better.

Have you considered that the DFM doing what she is paid to do and dealing with urgent Government business is more important than making sure Princess Anne is not inconvenienced?

good elp us we have gullies 2 groupies and the nitpicker in chief arguing for bad manners. What has happened to Scotland?

Question Author

Nonsense, Corby.  She has no respect and no manners.

//dealing with urgent Government business//

We are confident that this urgent unexpected business will be disclosed in the near future. Aren't we all?     ....    Me neither. Perhaps a case of constipation at work. That can be urgent after a diet of deep fried Mars Bars and Haggis Pizza.  🤢

you could say 'forthwith, down the Forth' - with all the sewage and proverbial from Stirling, Alloa, Aberfoyle etc., TTT....

A childish rebellion.  ðŸ˜‚

gowd elp us we have gullies 2 groupies and the nitpicker in chief arguing for bad manners. What has happened to Scotland?

dunno what happened there!

Tory supporting press has go at SNP minister. What a surprise. Anyone check facts? Was HRH snubbed? Were speeches delayed? Do random ABers chuck in their anti Scottish sentiments? Even less of a surprise.

Not anti-Scottish here....I was educated up there and most folk that I know up there are sane, logical and compassionate. This argument that the large majority of those south of the border are anti-Caledonian is pure hype, emotional illogical and, frankly bolllox - and ill-thought through.

Question Author

Yes, the speeches were delayed.  No excuse for bad manners.

> A Scottish Government spokesman said: "The Deputy First Minister was unavoidably delayed due to urgent government business and apologised to the organisers. The speeches were not delayed and the organisers were notified in advance."

> No details were given of a reason for the late arrival.

Not only Princess Anne, but everybody, had to wait, with no apology (only "organisers" were apologised) and without even a reason. That's just rude and egotistical.

TORATORATORA, "dunno what happened there!"

You copied your 19:26 post, changed the spelling of, "good elp us" to "gowd elp us" and then posted it...

Because the royal family is more important than everybody else, even you?

They are certainly more important than a minor politician. But that is besides the point. It wasn't as if she was unavoidably detained. She was deliberately late. She chose to prioritise "government business" over the agreement she had made to attend the ceremony. It is poor form and simply demonstrates a lack of courtesy.

I've no problem if Ms Robison does not accept the Monarchy. That's her choice and she's free to make it. But she should be true to her convictions and simply decline any invitations to any occasions which involve the Royal Family.

DTC, I didn't suggest all English were anti Scots, but reading AB posts, you would certainly get that impression.

Naomi, I read the Express article to the end. Someone said speeches were delayed, someone one else said they weren't. You obviously have inside information to be so dogmatic.

NJ, "[The royal family] are certainly more important than a minor politician."

What is Princess Anne's role that makes her so important?

Question Author

Perseverer, The 'someone else' who said the speeches weren't delayed were ... drum roll .... Scottish government officials.  That's handy.  A veritable bunch of musketeers!  ðŸ˜‚

Or Archers....??

is there a major chip maker in Scotland?

Even without Princess Anne there, it's still rude and egotistical.
