Snp Minister Leaves Princess Ann Waiting

The long-time SNP minister and Humza Yousaf's deputy,  Shona Robison, has been accused of "completely disrespectful" conduct after she failed to show up on time to the Royal opening of Aberdeen South Harbour on behalf of the Scottish Government and failed to thank the princess for attending. Ms Robison kept the crowd waiting for 40 minutes.

Just plain rude to create such embarrassment.  Scotland deserves better.

I've read through this and to say I'm not surprised , The SNP hate Westminster and dislike the Royal Family, I make no apologies for saying the sooner they go their own way, the better!

It was bad manners to keep anyone waiting that long  for an arranged appointment.  The Princess Royal has a special interest in Scotland, turns up at Rugby matches in the rain etc. - and as a Scotland team supporter I can say that it has been a thankless task for many years, but at last the lads are doing well.

We have just returned from a lovely holiday in Scotland.  We go every year because I feel the Scottish half of me  insisting and pulling me there.  Of course we did not encounter any antagonism or rudeness.  People were genuinely friendly and pleasant, as expected. 

In my experience the vociferous, rude SNP and Separatists are not widely reflected in the actual country - they seem to be congregated around the central belt, where there are lots of constituencies.

 Yes, Scotland deserves better, more civilised representation.

What is Princess Anne's role that makes her so important?

She is the King's sister and represents him during some of her many engagements, as she did for her mother, the late Queen. She also undertakes engagements in her own right as, for example  patron of many organisations.

The value and importance you place on her role is, of course, personal to you and depends on a number of factors. I believe she provides a very valuable role within the Royal Family. Of course if you are a Republican or even if you don't particularly like the idea of this country having a Monarchy and a Royal Family, then all bets are off.

But all that is really beside the point as far as this question goes. As jourdain says, deliberate unpunctuality is bad manners, particularly when a number of other people are expecting you to attend on time - whoever they might be.

This woman would of known long in advance that a dignatory from the royal family would be arriving on a certain date and time to open this dock.If she is too bloody thick,ignorant and rude to meet and greet the guest then she could have pleaded to a fellow SNP member to stand in for her. I'm sure HRH would not have cared but would certainly have arrived on time. The diaries of the Royal Family are planned months in advance and they generally keep to them barring tragic events. Some here are excusing the inexcusable solely because of  their anti royal credentials. That makes them just as ignorant as the deputy SNP leader. imo

Surely the "urgent Government business" could have been farmed out to someone else?  I never had much time for Nicola Sturgeon but I don't think she would have kept Princess Anne waiting.

Since we don't know what the urgent matter was, it could be that only the DFM was capable of dealing with it or lacked confidence in anyone else addressing it appropriately.
