Ugly blot on the landscape, or sympathetically designed for its surroundings ? What do you think ? I'm in the ugly blot camp.

Quote from article "Most objected to the proposed felling of five of the site’s 15 mature Scots pine trees to make way for a new house for McCartney, who has campaigned against deforestation."

Based only on that render...it's hideous and does nothing to enhance the surrounding area. And why, oh WHY do trees need to be cut down? At least work with them!

I still like it, for the reasons I said before. There's not a place in Britain that wouldn't look better without humans, but there must be a million and one houses that look worse than this one.

“I fear that if these places are taken away, I will be lost.”

Dear me. My own childhood home was pulled down 50 years ago, for a motorway that never even happened. But I've survived and she will too.

I don't like the chopping down of trees, but I don't think the house will be an eyesore.

If you're there to enjoy the views you won't be inclined  to turn around and look at the houses, anyway. Unless you're being nosy.

//Zebo it's also on a mound  at rhe entrance to the village with a  very steep drive and visible to all. //

Oh yes, I almost want to drive up from Cley with my eyes closed it's so ugly!  The current trend for blocks of freight containers as houses is revolting anywhere and I also dislike the garden shed school of design, some of the wooden cladding is already looking shabby in some places.  So many lovely houses round here have been here for over 100 years, those certainly won't.

With ref to jno's childhood home post, here is the lovely old Norfolk Flint seaside guest house I grew up in and the subsequent excrescence which a later owner replaced it with.

Yay, posting links working now.

For a modern looking residence it looks ok. Protest at there being anything built there is understandable, as are protests at cutting down trees since the location should be chosen such that, that wasn't considered necessary. But I hope the authorities come to a good decision (for a change).

My reasons for thinking it shouldn't be there are:

//Many local people, however, strongly disagree and have expressed their alarm about the potential disturbance of otters, the proposed felling of Scots pines and the prevention of access to a local beach.//
