an israeli airstrike is confirmed to have hit an orthodox christian church where hundreds of palestinian christians were taking shelter including elderly people women and children... 16 fatalities are so far confirmed but clearing of the rubble has only just begun

israel claims that a hamas command centre was "nearby"

how can this be a justifiable means of self-defence?

Why is the church still standing?

Question Author

because it consists of more than one building

You're creeping closer to the truth.

Question Author

it bears repeating that the bit of it that was destroyed (not standing... you can see it in the PBS video) was sheltering civilians... when the IDF euphemestically refers to damaging a part of the church that is what they are talking about

Clearly despite now knowing the church wasn't bombed, you are going to continue to be a mouthpiece for hamas.

// Clearly despite now knowing the church wasn't bombed //

All the links above say it was bombed ?

Civilians are always the largest number of casualties in war zones.

I've no doubt at all that if Biden hadn't held talks with Nethenyahu, then Israel would have flattened Gaza without any compunction whatsoever. Civilians or not.

In the meantime Starmer is telling porkies..

They don't if you read between the lines.

And

It wasn't bombed.

Isreal has announced publicly that it is bombing vast tracts of Northern Gaza.

when a school, hospital or church is bombed they claim it wasn't them, - friendly fire, Hamas own goal. That narrative is starting to wear a bit thin.

// They [The reports] don't [say Israel bombed the church] if you read between the lines. //

I am reading what is written. Not what isn't written.

Self defence includes eradicating Hamas who, as you know, embed themselves in civilian populations.  The IDF give said civilians warning before air strikes.  People will die.  Lots of them.  But Hamas cannot remain.

This building is the offices of the church.

roy

if any part of the church was hit by an airstrike then it was bombed... nobody involved disagrees  and you are being silly now.

if it had just been "a wall" i would not have posted... unfortunately the place that was destroyed had a large number of civilians sheltering inside

Question Author

"People will die.  Lots of them."

is that all there is to it? is it acceptable to kill absolutely anyone at all - even children - in pursuit of hamas?

Why on earth would a church need a building that big for ITS offices?

I'm thinking it only became part of the church after it was bombed.

Propaganda?

Yeah, you believe what hamas are saying rather than any Israeli...I know.

Question Author

I haven't quoted hamas roy... part of the church sheltering hundreds of the civilians was hit by an airstrike and plenty of them are now dead... nobody who is involved disagrees that this happened

''but it's not "warfare" to bomb a church full of refugees is it zacs... it's just mass killing''

Question Author

what's wrong with that?
