Both the Israeli govt and Hamas are in the grip of ancient writings which appeared thousands of years ago. Israeli ultra orthodox Jews and Islamists think that the old books justify slaughter and land-grabbing, and the current Israeli govt is heavily influenced by Jewish fundamentalism. God didn't make a deal with the Jews, or with the Muslims, but they both use 'his' existence to justify their own actions.

Off topic maybe, but I can't let it pass; you should never lie to a child, even over a bit of chocolate. When he discovers you had chocolate and lied about it, he may never trust anything you say again.

Sorry if that sounds a bit sanctimonious but I raised three children & never lied to them on anything.

What do you tell them about violence, stalking, financial and immigration frauds, drug possession and public order offences?

For an innocuous little example, would you let them think it would be a good idea to try to get into the USA with a friend's passport, just because they weren't allowed into the USA in their own passport? Isn't that a kind of lying?
