Leaving aside the fact that in England & Wales the majority of police funding comes from the Home Office, are you suggesting that their responsibilities are interchangeable, then? Or are you suggesting that the money that could be saved from the council budget if they did not address this issue could be vired across to the police budget? Or are you not concerned with budgets at all?

What next? The Council gets accused of "wasting taxpayers' money" by enforcing planning regulations?

While the criticism of whose budget pays for what, is valid, taking society as a whole there still seems to be a lack of sorting priorities.

Canary.  Most councils today are using hundreds of thousands of pounds  of taxpayers money ,to pay the fuel bills of public sector workers who are working from home.

They give out the Finacial grants to the Councils and I can assure you they keep the Labour Councils cash strapped .So I doubt very much if your post bears any truth at all ,,,,Think you are just clutching at straws.
