the UN has received reports that the IDF shot 11 unarmed palestinian civilians in front of their familiies, who were then forced into a room and grenades thrown in. 
 

the UN has called for the israeli government to establish an independent and thorough investigation into this incident.

The problem with your position, ynnafymmi, is that the IDF can do literally nothing wrong - no matter what they did, it's not their fault. Nuke the whole area? - not their fault!

In the real, and much more complicated, world, there are some things that the IDF can do that are acceptable and there are some that are unacceptable ...

The IDF stated in unequivocal terms exactly what they were going to do - eliminate Hamas which is predicated on the total elimination of all Jews and israel, and that is what they are doing and will continue to do, regardless of any UN resolutions.

Hamas are doomed and could easily put a stop to this war by doing the honourable thing and surrender, but of course, they are far from being honourable.

Yes, that's the what (eliminate Hamas) and the why (because it is predicated on the total elimination of all Jews and Israel). Most of the debate is about the how e.g. how many innocent men women and children are acceptable to be killed alongside trying to achieving the what because of the why.

there is some evidence that the idf has been executing surrendered combatants... which aside from being disgraceful would also make surrender much less likely

obviously hamas carries responsibility for provoking the israeli response. but the IDF have done things over the past few months that cannot possibly be justified even in retaliation, things that are just outright evil.

The events of early October could also be viewed as cause and effect.  More than 70 years of murder, military occupation, and land theft.
