three ministers in Israel's far right government have called for depopulation of gaza and replacement of the arab population with jewish colonists
the finance minister Bezalel Smotrich (author of the 2017 Smotrich plan for ethnically cleansing the palestinian territories) said that the solution to the war was "to encourage the voluntary migration of Gaza’s residents to countries that will agree to take in the refugees" adding that "Israel will permanently control the territory of the Gaza Strip"
security minister Itamar Ben Gvir said that the war was "an opportunity to concentrate on encouraging the migration of the residents of Gaza" and added that "
“We cannot withdraw from any territory we are in in the Gaza Strip. Not only do I not rule out Jewish settlement there, I believe it is also an important thing"
intelligence minister Gilia Gamliel also called for "voluntary resettlement" for gazans outside of gaza in an article for the jerusalem post
can migration really be called voluntary when the alternative is being killed? is ethnic cleansing ever a legitimate form of self defence?
the USA has rebuked two of the ministers

As far as I can tell from your link, you're the only one who has used that inflammatory term - again.
The UN defines ethnic cleansing as //"… rendering an area ethnically homogeneous by using force or intimidation to remove persons of given groups from the area."// .. and ...//“… a purposeful policy designed by one ethnic or religious group to remove by violent and terror-inspiring means the civilian population of another ethnic or religious group from certain geographic areas.”//

That is not 'voluntary migration' which is what your article is talking about. Furthermore, the same article declares that your claim is not the policy of the Israeli government.
There is of course a snag in all of this anyway. To resettle people the Israeli government would first have to find a country willing to take them - and that could prove difficult.

So what Israel has been doing to the Palastinenes for years now then?
Seems an odd term to use Untitled as there are already an Arab population in Israel proper so it would make no sense to "ethnically cleanse" Gaza. Yes I think Naomi is correct this is one of your made up terms so you can fling mud at the victims of terrorist attrocities again, rather than condemning your Hamas buddies. What is it with the left wing "thought" processes?
"a new democratic state consisting of Israelis and Arabs."
this would need to be followed by something akin to south africa's truth and reconciliation commission to acknowledge the history of oppression and of course the crimes against humanity committed by factions on both sides... but i agree it is certainly an idea worth considering
the oslo accords did also provide a viable path to a two-state solution and there could be a way to rescue that
errr no it isn't lol. but i am not aware of any islamic organisation with such a policy that enjoys the support of our government or widespread denial in our media.
but you know that already. it's the old dead cat strategy. you know full well that the behaviour of the israeli government is indefensible and so you say "islam! islam! hamas! you like hamas! you support terror!"
well it's not true and it's not going to work. what hamas did on october 7th was a reprehensible act of evil and israel has used that atrocity as justification to commit plenty of their own. i am not willing to overlook this purely because israel is allied with the UK/USA politically and neither should you.
People come up with suggestions to remedy the situation completely overlooking one simple but obvious snag. Hamas and groups like them don't want your solutions. Their stated intention is the complete destruction of Israel, and however this war ends, they will not stop. If anyone has intentions of ethnic cleansing it's them and given the opportunity they will do it. They make no bones about that. That's the thing about radical Islamists. They tell the Western world exactly what they intend to do - and stupidly the Western world doubts them.
Additionally, it seems to me that some here have a very misguided concept of everyday life for Palestinians in Israel imagining all sorts of horrors that are far from reality. Truth is they run their homes, raise their families, go to their jobs, run their businesses, attend their mosque regularly as all Muslims are supposed to - and the chances are if you want a taxi in Jerusalem it'll be a Palestinian driving it.
Naomi: "People come up with suggestions to remedy the situation completely overlooking one simple but obvious snag. Hamas and groups like them don't want your solutions. Their stated intention is the complete destruction of Israel...." - err and the west, in fact they want to enthically cleans the whole world. They cannot be reasoned with.
and why are hamas seen as the sole representatives of the palestinian cause? they took power 15 years ago and have been propped up by israeli support until october 2023. they are a monster of israel's own making... gaza has not always been ruled by them and could with some work be restored to one of the more secular factions who have renounced terror (like fatah for example which controls the west bank and does not seek to destroy israel).
untitled: " they are a monster of israel's own making..." - you keep trotting that out like it has some relevance. The west more or less created the Taliban but that went wrong. Israel tried to reason with Hamas, where has it got them? Don't you see you are just underlining the general belief that Islam cannot be reasoned with yet you and your ilk are always talking about negotiation etc. you cannot negotitiate with a group whose aim is your destruction at any cost over any time frame. Yes untitled they'll chop your loaf off the same as mine and you sticking up for them won't make any difference. Islam is serious problem for the world.
