They Must Long For The Days Of Apartheid.....
Answers
i doubt very much that black south africans long for the days when they were oppressed
an important bit of context for this thread... toratoratora once told me that he believes black people are better off being ruled by white people:

that is indeed what you said yes. the belief that white people are better off in charge over black people is called white supremacy.
the apartheid regime and the colonial regime in rhodesia were built on violence rape torture and exploitation. much of this was effectively legalised or simply ignored. i don't think many south africans look back on those days too fondly. i certainly wouldn't and neither i suspect would you if you had been on the sharp end of it.
I think it seems clear that it's presently a failed State. But they need to find a way forward, not back. Clearly they have trouble, as most nations do, finding someone worthy of being in government. Power corrupts, or possibly attracts the already corrupt. Or maybe we should just put it down to a lack of governing ability everywhere.
Untitled: "that is indeed what you said yes. the belief that white people are better off in charge over black people is called white supremacy. " - I don't think so. Pointing out that certain demographics are better or worse at certain things is not any kind of supremacy. It's realism. The fact is that we used to export, civilisation, infrastructure, democracy, better living standards, etc. The sorts of things that the people risking their lives to cross the channel still crave. When we leave indigenous Africans to run their own show the result is always the same. Now you can put your head in the sand untitled and call me your isms but the facts speak for themselves.
We currently have 4 South African dads whose sons play in my sons U/15 rugby team, all of whom moved to the UK out of fear. Some of the stories they tell are horrific.
One of them showed me photos of the outside of their parent's house...except it didn't look like a house. It was surrounded by 12ft high concrete walls topped with razor-wire, the gate would take a tank to break through, and the house itself has steel shutters over every window and door that can quickly be activitated from various points in the house, and which have to activated each night.
I could not imagine living in such circumstances - it sounds like a more dangerous version of the Wild West.
"Pointing out that certain demographics are better or worse at certain things is not any kind of supremacy"
it is if you believe that one demographic is better at being in power, by the way. that is literally what supremacy means. if you believe that white people are the demographic who should be in charge then you believe in white supremacy... that is irreduciably what the term means.
" The fact is that we used to export, civilisation, infrastructure, democracy, better living standards, etc"
rhodesia and apartheid south africa were not established or ruled by civilized means toratoratora. they were oppressive evil and exploitative states. the present day woes of those countries should not be used to justify racist imperialism.
