Do You Think Ed Davey Will Lose His Seat Against The Former Post Mistress Standing Against Him At The General Election?
Did Alan Bates recall correctly that Davey would not meet him? Why would he not, as a government minister (Post Office) at least set upon a trail of investigation eg Is there another sub PM in the UK who has the same problem? Make it a topic for conversation and investigation - as it finally now is.

I've just watched newsnight where two of the victims were interviewed and I feel quite emotional right now. This is shameful, utterly shameful. This was a well kept secret and heads must roll - an awful lot of them including his. Doubtless he has a nice pension pot so he won't suffer too severely. Certainly not as those people have. He's alright Jack.
I wonder whether the irony is lost on Ed Davey that he's very quick to call for the resignation of people. I doubt it.

Anyone focusing on Ed Davey is playing Deflection. The history of this scandal is that it took place under Labour for about 10 years, and was covered up, quashed and delayed under the Tories for about 15 years. Ed Davey in 2010 was a bit part player in the whole debacle. Paula Vennells was given a CBE in 2019 under the Tories ... try deflecting that.
Personally I've no intention of attempting to deflect that or any of it. To my mind it should be beneath everyone to play political point scoring over this. Regardless of politics, everyone who knew what was going on - and there were many - should and must be held to account. I cannot think of a bigger scandal - ever. The words 'shameful national disgrace' don't come close to describing it.
Naomi - In an ideal world, justice would be done.
But here in the world we live in, a lot of people will say "Lessons have been learned...", not receive the punch in the face they deserve for such patronizing guff, and the guilty will walk away unscathed.
Just thinking about it is bringing on one of my 'heads'.
Ich - Why is that against the spirit of democracy.
I don't see the issue in requiring an appropriate level of experience for candidates for one of the most important and responsible jobs there is.
Having complete amateurs standing, and being elected on a wave of righteous anger, is not the way to get good MPs into Parliament.
^That could be because the Conservatives have been in government for the past 14 years. Just a thought. But that said, if they were also aware of what was going on - and I suspect they were - they, along with Ed Davey, should go. Those accountable have to be held to account for this - whoever they are.

if only it were so ! - ed davey refused to meet first off, and then gave a brush off ( you know like AB mods do here ) and then met

It is so - and the request to stick to the topic applies to you too.
Tony Blair was warned that the system might be flawed but allowed it to be rolled out nonetheless. Responsibility for this appalling episode runs far and wide.
