It's quite acceptable to alter your view and withdraw something you said which is indefensible.

It's not acceptable to try and pretend you didn't say it in the first place.

Taking responsibility is different from acting responsibly and you are claiming she is partly to blame for attacks she has received.

I read that as agreeing with what Angela Rayner said.  She knows why it is happening and has acknowledged that her past behaviour requires some reflection.

I would agree - I can see why it's happening.

My explanation - for the record - is that we live in an increasingly extreme society.

Whereas years ago, people were content to offer their dissention verbally, or maybe in written form, increasingly we find the use of what the media euphemistically likes to call 'direct action' which involves physical violence and damage.

      Think this thread is all about which political party you support .  For instance ,TTT thinks Ms Rayner has brought these death threats upon herself and describes her as a "Vile woman" Whereas if I say Boris should carry out his promise and die in a ditch....  on this thread  I would expect Naomi to remove my answer.Which is what she probably will do because it is Sat, and she has the power to do so.

Gulliver - Naomi, like all Mods, whatever day of the week it is, removes posts if they contravene Site Rules, and fir that reason only.

Sadly, your pointless off-thread needling is not yet at that stage, but as you are aware, there is more than one Mod on the site, so we won't know who, if anyone, removes anything.

That's just to pre-empt any pointless accusations you may come back with.

gulliver, if I took umbrage at your rudeness and wanted to remove your post, I would remove it on any day of the week.  Watch out though - other mods who impose the rules more strictly than I do might like Saturdays best.  ;o)
