Seems like Britain is having trouble ruling the waves these days.

Aircraft carriers breaking down and having to return to port from NATO exercises Submarines that can't fire missiles as they go plop into the sea ..And Now a fresh embarrassment as HMS QE catches fire while it was in dock being repaired.Bet NATO and Putin are laughing their socks off.

Prudie, //I know full well why they are allowed....//

What does that mean?  I've had no instruction to 'allow' anything.  If I see a duplicate post, I remove it.  I removed one from gulliver only last week.  He moaned.  Oh well, you can't please them all.  ;o)

retrocop, I served in HMS Ark Royal and the series you are talking about was probably the Sailing one with the Rod Stewart music.  I left just before that one and another documentary was done then with Cliff Michelmore.

Prudie, why are they allowed? For months I've been asking what is this sites definition of a troll but neither the Ed's or Mod's have even replied let alone give an explanation.

-- answer removed --

For someone who posts about the working class you sem to mock the idea of people doing such lowly tasks.

They are 'allowed' because they pull in the posts so the courtesy and rules that long time members are expected to follow gets re-interpreted for some . Do you think if I was so downright rude and mean to shedman with the Tesco comment it would have been accepted?

If you report them they still don't get removed.

Vulcan, any definition has to come from the Editors.  The mods can't comment on that because it isn't up to them.  They will have their own opinions - and perhaps all different - I don't know - but they don't make the rules and they don't 'mod' from a personal perspective.

It seems he was allowed to call me a dullard just because I pointed out he had got the wrong end of the stick.

Maybe the answer is for us all to shake our heads, smile and ignore those we think are trolls.

Prudie, I was typing and have only just seen that comment - and no it isn't acceptable.

Goodness Gracious There are more answers about me ,than the subject.

Did I miss something?

PRUDIE, would you be mumping about those threads if they had been positive?

Only a childish insult ( now removed) by the OP aimed at you,  the shedman. Best to move on.

Yes gully any fire large or small can be very dangerous on any ship especially a war ship. All fires on navy ships are investigated for future reference. There are however a lot of young rookies on the HMS QE who have little experience, manning this ship is becoming a problem. A newsworthy topic indeed.

Ok newmodarmy, I get used to them off him.

Think the  new recruiting Slogan should now be

....Join the Navy and see the Dockyard"..

Yes. That's the one Shedman. My respects. Good for the 'Andrew'

I wouldn't trust Gulliver to press my 'tiddly suit' !!!   😂

By the time they have completed repairs, if they ever do, the 3.5 billion cost will carry on increasing. Value for money? at this moment in time no. But eh, the money trees keep on giving.
