Seems like Britain is having trouble ruling the waves these days.

Aircraft carriers breaking down and having to return to port from NATO exercises Submarines that can't fire missiles as they go plop into the sea ..And Now a fresh embarrassment as HMS QE catches fire while it was in dock being repaired.Bet NATO and Putin are laughing their socks off.

What is powder monkey slang for? noun. : a person who carries or has charge of explosives (as in blasting operations).

( I am not threatening at all: as in - if you use powder monkey in a way I dont like, your head will explode like in the scene from "Scanners")

It must be of great concern for the young rookies that may sooner or later set out to sea for the first time on a ship that already has  major problems. They maybe safer getting a job in the butchers shop on land, at least they could run for cover in the fridge should the missiles start flying over.

Can I point out once again that America, the worldwide leading manufacturer of aircraft carriers and has eleven commisioned compared with 15 which the rest of the world have collectively; that its last carrier was delayed for nearly two years before being commisioned?

The sheer complexity of these huge ships nearly always leads to some delay due to modifications, adjustments and other problems, before being sea worthy.

Why do you think that on their first sea going trials experts from the combined companies who make them, are on board?  it is not a "thank you, come for a nice sea trip".

that aircraft carrier battles were NOT the way of warfare in the future ?

No holes below water level, if so, oh god sea water ingress, salt water rust. Money tight, BQ value silicon, repaint, see North sea oil rig advice for paint protection.:0) Complexity of shaft.

Must go round and round even, level and in a straight line, must add common but BIG bearings well greased at all times., must be able to go forward or reverse to avoid being hit by rocket. Bearing supports must be strong, straight and even and again level.  Basic engineering repeated over many year. Wagon train rooooolllll.
