I'm 67 and have been getting my pension for just over a year.  At the moment I receive £811 4-weekly.  If I'd received only £500 4-w for the six years I lost, I'd have received £39,000.

I'm not holding my breath for any compensation but will be very pleased to receive anything.

It'll add up to billions if they do pay out.

I gave pensions advice to all new-joiners 1995-2012 when I retired - on the basis they had to be told

and the necessity for self-provision

god, what do women talk about if not their pensions ? (joke)

Baroness Altmann ( deer  almost turned Diana) ( hunted turned Hunter - classical allusion geddit??) was a bit wishy washy about this - R4 0815 - and took my view - "Me n me frenz knew all about it  then"

and then they had a woman on from Portland - crippled by arthritis she was - -- and self employed ( who pay 2% of the tax the treasury takes) and she had not trimmed her lamp.... (biblical allusion sozza folks)

Baroness A - £30 bn . . if you make it all up !

less if you deem them less

Question Author

Peter Pedant, sorry I have no idea what you are trying to say.

BoxAngle, any room on the dunce's chair for me as I am clueless too

Nobody will be getting their money back.  I'll bet my best conker on it

In a word No.  It would cost too much for a start so all any party will do is kick the can down the road.

I would bet my best marble, would have to think hard about betting my best ironey.

no, let's wait for them do die, like the postmasters.

NO

Why should they get compensation?  If they listened or read the news they would have known it was coming. The ages had to be equalised so someone sometime was going to work longer than expected.  Yes, I did come into that age group.

1. dair dis radio

2.and it called radio 4

3. and around half eight, they had this lady on ( radio 4)

4. lady altmann.

5 she was very brainy about pensions - foo! a real intellect

6. she said she had told all her frenz in 1995

7. and was a bit wishy washy about those who had not

the end

oo forgot - Portland is in Dorset ( aaarh!)

Baroness A - £30 bn . . if you make it all up !   =

Lady ALtmann said on radio 4 this morning the total cost  of compensation if everything was paid as demanded was £30bn. It was less if you awarded less

Jesus

too difficult a concept for most of the readers of this thread Boto

biblical allusion to sleepers - see above

Dair dis book - the Bible

There is a story about a wedding and 7 maidens awaiting the bride falling asleep

and they fail to trim their lamps - whoopsie and miss it all.

I thought it was a just parallel to the women who gnored the warnings in 1995 ( they slept) and were in a short pension situation now. - (they lost out on pension paradise)

[yeah OK the event they missed was the Coming of the Lord and not pension heaven. but recycling is all the rage innit?)

I have no idea what peter pedant is trying to say. Anyone have a clue?

Well, they did ask for equality in all things, and now they've got it, they don't like it.

Surely having all the plum jobs at the BEEB is reward in itself for wimminkind.
