He's cancelled his Labour party membership.  Is this a blessing or a curse for Kier & Co?  Personally I think he's an annoying and arrogant muppet, but there again, I'm not a Labour voter :)

Looks like he doesn't think Labour are very Labour like.

Starmer is well rid of this one.  Another gobby Corbynite bites the dust. Now the Labour Party are rid of Corbyn, Abbott & Owen Jones, maybe they'll actually become electable!

Cannot stand the man. You're right Stableford, he is an annoying, arrogant muppet.

Horrible little man.  They're well rid of him.

i like him and agree with him. starmer's leadership of the labour party is not good enough. those of us on the left should not tolerate a so-called leader of the opposition who fails to oppose war crimes and mimics the disastrous policies of the conservatives.

"blessing or curse for Kier & co?"

it is highly likely that they will win the next election by a strong margin anyway so while owen jones' gesture is a principled one that I firmly agree with i truly doubt it will make much difference... starmer has been far more intolerant with his political opponents than jeremy corbyn ever was and as a result most of owen jones' faction has been pushed out of labour anyway.

won't be any great surprise to them and while i would like it very much to affect them... it won't

If Labour stay as they were under Corbyn they will get the same results as Corbyn.  If they want to get elected, the only was is to do a Blair and embrace the middle ground.

interesting definition of "middle"

i like him and agree with him

A commie, no doubt has a hammer and sickle tattoo somewhere.

SKS is well rid, Corbinites do not win elections they loose them.

Yes they lose them.

Yeah, ok.

Labour do seem to have a dual personality at the moment. There are those trying to get elected like Like Starmer and his front bench and those that care more about being true to their hard left ideology than they do about actually attaining power. Owen Jones, like Corbyn fit into the latter category. Good for them in sticking to their beliefs but the public will never trust them enough to give them power.

Tory mayoral candidate for Greater Manchester defects to Reform UK.

Not a directly related story of course but it illustrates the same thing: when political upheaval is on the horizon, a lot of wannabes and influencers try to predict the next ground to shift to.

I've observed this person with considerable distaste on Twitter over the years - he's a hypocrite and a bully - until he realises that he's bullying someone who can/will fight back, at which point he runs and hides behind the skirts of his deluded supporters, whilst bleating about how hard done by he is.

The Labour Party is well rid of him.

Nice attempt to divert the attention.

Owen Jones lost the plot a while back. Shame, as he is very articulate. Or was

It seems to happen to a few of them. (Of all political persuasions)

ymb, I acknowledged that but went to some pains to explain why I thought the stories were linked and why it's happening quite a bit at the moment. Did you not get beyond my first sentence?

ichi: //Owen Jones lost the plot a while back.//

Did he ever have the plot to loose? He like Corbyn is an ideologue - it's all political theory, they've read Marx and that's all they need.

I've quoted Corbin's first wife before: "In all the years we were married, I never saw him read a book." I believe that would also apply to Owen Jones.

What do they know of the world, those who only socialism know?
