Is Britain No Longer A Military Power,?.

Recruitment for the Armed forces has been branded a"National Security Crisis" by the MPs .Military chiefs are becoming increasingly concerned about the UK's ability to respond to global threats, as for every five new recruits who join the armed forces a total of eight are leaving .What is the answer ? Maybe bring back National Service or a hire Private Army of mercenaries ?.

It was the present Tory Govt who in 2021 announced they were aiming to reduce the size of the Army of trained regular soldiers from 82,000 down to 72,000 Now they want to increase those figures back up to 90.000,,,is there an election approaching ?.

There is an interesting graph in the link below that shows UK military expenditure as a percentage of GDP from 1960 to 2022 (which explains everything).

 

I believe that the UK military expenditure figures also include the amount paid in pensions to retired ex-service personnel – so Captain Mainwaring might be called on once more to defend the realm.

Maybe national service in Britain would be a cheaper way of curbing the number of young male boat people arriving there .They might think twice about having to fight for the country where the streets are paved  with gold and those that are in the UK would get their prayer mats out and beg allah to send them to Rwanda.

Another consideration is the fairly recent history of the UK's politicians who sent hardcore British warriors to fight in Irag and Afghan, probably lied to for the reasons why they were sent there and then forgotton about when they returned by the same useless politicians ????

And of course, the Soliders who served in the Northern Ireland conflict being prosecuted, or being seeked for some Lawfare while some extremely violent terrorist realised from any prosecution. Probably puts people off joining.

Hi retrocop, I dont think the Birtish will ever be short of the worlds best combat and most experinced effective soldiers in the world, even though the country (and the west) is being dragged down by the lazy new weak people. Blair and Labour spoiled a lot of new Brit people wishes to join the UK's armed forces with their lies and the their hatred of its troops.
