None of us want this war, but if it does happen, and Israel do what they always do, which tends to be shock and awe tactics, I have zero doubt they'll be some on this board (and I know who they are) who will say Israel have gone too far...because it's Israel.

Perhaps the Iranians launched a drone attack  knowing most of them would be intercepted, a face saving exercise.

But Israeli hopes of an American attack on Iran could see more provocation from them in order to achieve their aim.

Maybe im wrong,but arent there two or three countries between Iran and Israel?How do these countries feel about their airspaces being violated by the Iranian regimes rockets and drones?

sandyRoe's answer at 7.11 does seem to carry some truth to it.  A couple of days ago Biden said this was going to happen and roughly the same number of drones and rockets were launched as he said would be.  Could have been a face saving exercise by Iran after the Israeli attack on their consulate so they had to be seen doing something in retaliation to that.  As British and American fighter jets were involved too it does seem like it may have been planned.  Just a thought.

Yes - but the report says attacks were launched by Iran proxies in Syria, Iraq (& Yemen). I don't think Jordan wants to get involved on either side.

Iran tricked Washington into invading Iraq for them, and getting rid of their rival, Saddam. The Americans are still cross.

Iran really does appear to be a Pariah state. It would seem fellow Muslim states do not admire their regime either. Amongst the Israeli Air defence measures to destroy just over 300 drones and rockets were contributions from the Air Forces of the UK. US. France.Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Seems like Iran are on their own in that region.

I have just heard a youngish Iranian talking on LBC and he states that the sensible Iranians hate the regime they suffer under and are hoping Israel will retaliate with a big stick and topple the oppressive Ayatollahs.

Iran has had its hissy fit now and hopefully the predictable failure to cause a huge  amount of damage will serve to cool things a bit. 
It's a subsiding thought though that although the drones were taken out long before they reached Israeli air space by Israel's allies, only Israel possesses the air defence capability to fend off future terrorist attacks by cruise and ballistic missiles, be the terrorists Russian or Iranian
