I'm a bit surprised that the governments of the countries that the immigrants are leaving haven't said something like, "Hang on a minute! Where are you all going? We're losing people that we need to run this country! Why can't you all stay here and help us?"

I would imagine the Senegalese have not got a clue who is supposed to be governing  there.It certainy is a terrorist haven according to Gov.UK.Not a place I would visit or welcome visits from them.

Senegal looks like a nice place for a holiday looking at trip advisor and other travel sites...anyway europe the uk etc cannot absorb africa's poor let alone cultural clashes, european countries have to collectively turn the boats back.

Werent these countries like Senegal a lot better when the colonial powers controlled them.They threw these colonial powers out saying we can run our own countries better than you can.The colonial powers left these countries and they reverted back to being utter ***-hole failed states.

Like visiting tradesmen Europe went to these places and turned them into nice safe places to live. Once they are given back they turn back into the guano orrifices they once were and their people crave western civilisation so much that they'll risk their lives to get there. Now I can almost hear the trobiscites pebble dashing their screens with organic peace porridge!

I think the news does reach those waiting to cross.

But the chance of crossing clearly makes the risk acceptable, which is why they keep on coming.

The possibiity of drowning balanced against the chance of a new life is clearly an option thousands are willing to take.

Not new for them, how many slaves died by drowning and other means in transit to Gorée and then beyond in the 400 years that the country was used to extricate sub-Saharan prisoners??

@19.52.So how are these ex-colonial countries(especially in Africa)doing right now Canary?Seems their main export is their own people.Are these immigrants to Europe voting with their feet?As i have said previously,these ****-hole countries are reverting back to what they were like before colonialism.
