Sunak Goes Missing

It's emerged tonight on Newsnight that the reason Sunak left the D-Day commemorations early - leaving Lord Cameron to be photographed in the leaders' line up and Keir Starmer to meet Zelensky -  was to come back to do an ITV interview to try to prove he's not a liar.

I think that's unforgivably disrespectful.  Why did nobody on his team tell him how bad it would look?

Tim Montgomerie, the founder of the grassroots Conservative Home website, told BBC Newsnight: “I want to put my head in my hands. If he came back for a political interview from the D-day commemorations that is indefensible.

“This is going to be the last big commemoration where survivors will be present,” he added. “I think it’s political malpractice of the highest order if Mr Sunak absented himself for an election interview on ITV.”

It is pretty baffling though. Addressing that whole issue about lying could have waited a day, and now he's created another gaffe he's got to deal with.

Maybe he has advisers but advice is not always helpful & not always followed.

He should have had the sense to ignore such advice.  A leader who can't spare one day in memory of people who gave their lives for their country isn't much of a leader.  I think this demonstrates without doubt that he is nothing but self-serving.

yes they did. The photo of me da' in an early POW camp ( 1940, Dunkirk) shows a sikh in the back row.

WWI - yes - The double VC Chavasse MB had a little helper, also Indian who was not as  honoured as much. - he got the one below ( ? DSO)
