I think by far that is the most practical and beneficial thing to do yes. trump's plan will cost the country enormously and do a huge amount of damage to a huge number of people for no benefit.

No, it's just the easiest thing to do. Allowing unlimited and unfettered immigration will have a far more adverse and costly outcome in the long term.
