Not a good idea as it'd end up with everyone's military under EU control.

 

No reason why one can't have international cooperation as needed without relinquishing one's military forces.

Maybe Trump(like us Brits)has had enough of us Brits and Yanks being Europes guardian angels.Britain is an island.WW1,we didnt need to be involved,millions of Brits died,WW2,Britain didnt need to be involved,millions of Brits died.Next time Germany or Russia kicks off,we Brits should just step away.

It makes more sense for Europe to be dealing with this. we depend on the US because of decades of European disarmmament, spending a shilling a week on defence then whining when we are unable to mount any sort of actual defence. I can understand why the US is angry at Europe generally. Every NATO country should spend what the US spends as a proportion of GDP. Our trobiscite friends are always saying we should set the example, in this area I agree, we should increase defence spending to 5% of GDP pronto. Frankly the way Europe carries on I am amazed that the US hasn't pulled out of NATO anyway.

Its not that Dave,Britain still is a military power,however twice last century Britain has to step in to help out our European"friends",especially the cowardly French,millions of Brits died defending both Belgium,France,Poland...what thanks did we get?*** all.Not happy.

yes and a huge amount of our defence spending goes onto a nuclear programme that is completely reliant on american technology to use. we would be far better off using the same money on conventional forces
