British Couple Held In Iran
The couple, named as Craig and Lindsay Foreman, who are in their early 50s, and were on a trip across the world to Australia on motorbikes, were arrested in Iran in January on unspecified security charges.
Posting on Instagram Mrs Foreman acknowledged that travelling to the Iran, against Foreign Office advice, and to Pakistan was risky and "slightly scary".
"Yes, we're aware of the risks," she wrote. "But we also know the rewards of meeting incredible people, hearing their stories, and seeing the breathtaking landscapes of these regions could far outweigh the fear."
She added: "From the vast deserts of Iran to the towering peaks of Pakistan, we hope to share the beauty, hospitality, and humanity that often go unnoticed."
Mrs Foreman is reported to have been carrying out a research project on their journey to Australia asking people what it means to be human and what constitutes a good life.
She was due to present her findings at a conference on positive psychology in Brisbane in July. Lindsay Foreman is a life coach with a doctorate in psychology.

I hope they're recovered safely but for supposedly intelligent people this really is appallingly irresponsible. Sheer madness.

'In February 2018, Richard Ratcliffe said he believed his wife's release was dependent on the interest on a £450 million debt the UK has owed to Iran since the 1970s for a cancelled arms deal. In October 2019 he repeated the claim with more detail, stating that a UK government agency was using "every legal roadblock to delay and minimise the payment".
In 1971, the Iranian government, then under the Shah of Iran, paid Britain for an order for more than 1,500 Chieftain tanks and other armoured vehicles as part of a £650 million deal. When the Shah's regime fell, Britain cancelled the undelivered part of the order and the Islamic regime asked for a partial refund on undelivered tanks. A legal dispute had existed between Britain and Iran ever since. In May 2021, after his wife had her sentence extended yet again, Richard Ratcliffe wrote a piece for Declassified UK, in which he stated that the UK's secretive, unaccountable arms export is a danger to Nazanin and British citizens everywhere.'
