Hi there. At Christmas time I bought my mum a gift voucher for afternoon tea to a restaurant she had always wanted to go to but I got it for two, and on my dads birthday in January they went and they loved it. This weekend is Mother's Day but it also happens to be nephews birthday the same day and my mothers birthday the day before. We thought he was going to be born the same day 22 years ago my sister went into Labour at 8am but it took 28 hours ! So a bit expensive weekend  I thought of getting just my mother a voucher for afternoon tea herself and dad could pay his own when they go it is £25 each as a joint Mother's Day and birthday It's just its mums birthday and Mother's Day it's not dads day I wouldn't say that to him but does that sound a bit mean or cheeky ?!

Maybe a voucher for a nice cafe where they can both go for lunch or a Cream Tea rather than Afternoon Tea this time. You'd get that easily for two for £25.

Yup!  I live alone but, whenever someone has been kind enough to give me a voucher for afternoon tea (or similar) for Christmas or for a birthday, it's always been for two people.

Pay for your dad! Skinflint.

I think it sounds mean, I wouldn't be very pleased if I was either of your parents!

Going for afternoon tea is nice. Going on your own is awful

I know it's Mother's Day but you can't buy a present that needs to be enjoyed with others and not pay for the other.

Sometimes my dad's birthday would coincide with Father's Day. He would receive 2 separate gifts. The niece's birthday was (and still is) 17th June.

After she turned 21, she receives a card.

As your mum and dad are still alive, you buy her a birthday gift and something for mothers day, if it's an afternoon tea, you buy for her and dad.

I'm guessing that the bold gordie is one of those who pipes up that he never had a starter when the bill's getting paid.

Please treat them both to an afternoon tea - you know it's the right thing to do.  👍
